The candidates are: William Bell (incumbent), Randall Woodfin, Chris Woods, Lanny E. Jackson, Randy Davis, Frank Matthews, Carl Jackson, Fernandez Sims, E. Philemon Hill II, Donald Lomax, Patricia Bell and Trudy Hunter.

William Bell won his first bid for mayor in a special election in late 2009 to replace former Mayor Larry Langford following his federal conviction.

Woodfin, 35, is an assistant city attorney and current member of the Birmingham Board of Education.

He announced his candidacy in August 2016. He said he wants to "revitalize the way politics are done in Birmingham" and to "make the city more transparent with our wholesale jerseys tax dollars."

"We need a vision and a workable plan that lifts the entire city. I believe that I am the person to get the job done," he added.

Woods is a contractor and former Auburn University wide receiver. He said he is running for mayor because of his "love for the city.

"If we come together as one people united together with a common purpose, Birmingham can become the All American city that she is destined to be," he said in a statement. "Together we will identify and tackle community wide challenges and achieve uncommon results.

Davis, 42, of Titusville, formerly worked as a Birmingham police officer and deputy with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. He now serves as a reserve deputy.

"I believe I can do so much more than what is going on right now" in the city, he said. "It seems, as though, people are getting neglected. Other cities and municipalities around Birmingham are nfl shop just passing us. We aren't doing anything about it as far as our streets, our safety and our school system. The whole city needs a face lift."

Matthews, 61, is a community activist. He has lived in Birmingham for about 28 years and has worked as an ordained minister and radio host.

"I'm running because for the last 40 years, Birmingham's poverty rate has remained in the 30th percentile range topping out at the current rate of 37.1 percent," Matthews said.

"The metro Birmingham GDP (gross domestic product) has been as low as $43 billion and as high as $67 billion. With that type of money flowing through Birmingham, there is no reason for the high poverty rate," he added. "My sole mission is to diminish the poverty rate in Birmingham. It's time to share the economic wealth of Birmingham."

Sims, is a pastor and case wholesale pro bowl jerseys manager for a non profit Christian counseling agency. He China jerseys lives in Highland Park.

"I believe that the city of Birmingham has lost its way in terms of the leadership of the mayor's office, he said. "We have to give every citizen a voice," Sims added.

Sims said he wants to unite Birmingham and rebuild its crumbling infrastructure and failing city schools and reduce crime.

"I think we need a leader who can lead the city away from the failure that we have experienced and put the city on a better path for growth and prosperity," he said. Army. To qualify, candidates must be at least 25, be registered to vote and live in the city of Birmingham. The fee to qualify is $300.

According to the Probate Office of Jefferson County, candidates have to be cleared by the Alabama Ethics Commission after the qualifying period to ensure they meet all of the qualifying requirements.
